The Council of Europe’s Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) has published today the response of the Moldovan Government to the report on the CPT’s most recent visit to the Republic of Moldova, in September 2015 The CPT’s report on the September 2015 visit was published on 30 June 2016 (CPT/Inf (2016) 16).
A delegation of the Council of Europe’s Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) carried out a periodic visit to the Republic of Moldova from 14 to 25 September 2015. This was the Committee’s sixth periodic visit to the country. In the course of the visit, the delegation examined the conditions of detention and treatment of persons held in police establishments and prisons. In this context, particular attention was paid to the situation of female inmates, juveniles and prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment, as well as to the arrangements concerning the provision of health care to prisoners at Pruncul Prison Hospital. The delegation also visited a psychiatric hospital and a social care home.
